1st day of summer 2010

summer officially starts today and it is also hero's day in bermuda... it kicks off hot!!... well, early this morning i caught a glimpse of soccer match between portugal and north korea... i didnt really stayed glued because i was busy with other things... it was a great triumph for portugal scoring 7 to nil... they showed no mercy... i felt bad for north koreans... they played well defensively in their first match but i guess games can be psychological also.. they knew that portugal is a strong team and i guess the north koreans were "intimidated".. their goalee couldnt anticipate a goal and he was just playing "clumsy" i think.. well, i would always choose the underdog in any matches unless i have my own personal favorite..so after the match, we could hear the portuguese blowing their horns on the street..im sure they were very proud to win BIG... and i think it is a first in world cup history...i didnt have any plan to go out today but my niece urged me to even if she was from night duty.. she asked me to wake her up at 1pm which i did... well, since i didnt have the (borrowed) car with me, we were left with no choice but to take the bus... holidays here are a hassle to wait for the bus because they come at the very least an hour or half an hour if you take the route down our place.. we waited for more than 40 minutes when the 1st bus came but it was jam-packed with tourists.. we held our patience and it was like counting all the cars, bikes, trucks, taxis that passed us by... then it took another 40 minutes or so til the next one came but it just passed us by like the first one.. still loaded...gosh.. it was sweltering hot... so my niece decided to just go home..it was almost 230 in the afternoon.. and we were planning to have a road trip on the other part of the island.. since we needed to catch another one in town which leaves every hour, we knew that we couldnt make it.. so we took a hike...hahaha... our house is just right on the block but we were so thirsty that we decided to walk past the house to get some icecream in the nearest convenient store which is about more than 5 meters ... so off we went under the heat of the 1st summer sun... as we were walking we were not even sure if the store is open or not coz most stores here (even gasoline stations) are closed on holidays... so we are trying to "punish" ourselves more... but as we saw many cars parked by the gasoline station (the store is just adjacent to the gas station), we were sure that it is open... i grabbed a bar of icecream.. and since my niece didnt have lunch yet, she ordered a few hot wings with wedged potatoes... later we had some smoothie... i chose mango smoothie but it was sour... i felt that it was just loaded with sugar but it couldnt masked the sourness of the mango.. well, i wasnt that expectant coz their mangoes here are in no comparison to the sweetness of the mangoes we have back home... every time i see it in the grocery store, it wouldnt interest me for i know that i would just waste my money buying it..T.T.... we stayed there for half an hour... until i realized that the soccer match between spain and honduras is about to begin on tv.. they have an HD tv down at the store... well, we were just killing time basically so we decided to run across the street and check out a fishing spot by the water... you see, anywhere you go from here is water... i have been eyeing that spot every time i would drive down to the grocery store... we just made the most of our "spoiled" time.. we took some pictures despite the unbearable heat ... i hate being out in the sun.. but i couldnt deny how lovely every side of the island is... it is always worth taking a picture...

i am rooting for Spain but I dont know why Raul is not playing... T.T
